Involving our stakeholders
The Trust has developed a Communication, Engagement and Public Involvement Strategy to keep its key stakeholders, including its staff and the public, informed of the process and information will be distributed across Cumbria.
An External Stakeholder Group has been established which is chaired by the Strategic Health Authority NHS North West. This group includes representatives from Cumbria LINk, patient groups, commissioners NHS Cumbria, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Cumbria County Council, GPs and hospital clinicians. It has an essential role in contributing to the entire process. This is an important contribution to the successful identification of a preferred partner and to ensure that Trust Board is fully informed by external stakeholder views. It meets monthly. Stakeholders will be taking part in an evaulation exercise with interested FTs in October.
Stakeholder Event
Staff, patients and members of the community are playing a role in the acquisition of North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust. An event was held on 12 October when the three NHS Foundation Trusts which have shown an interest in acquiring the Trust presented their proposals.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; and ‘A partnership with Newcastle in Cumbria’ (an alliance between Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) gave an overview of their proposals at the event held at Rheged, Penrith.
The event was organised by the Trust to involve and engage hospital clinical and non-clinical staff, unions and staff-side representatives, GPs and commissioners, patients and groups associated with healthcare. Over 100 people attended.
