Catering and patient meals

Question

1. Who provides catering for inpatients in your Hospitals?

2. How many complaints did you received about catering provision in the last year (or whatever recent time-frame is convenient) and what are the nature of these complaints?

Also,

3. Can I have a copy of the contract for catering provision or details of how much money this contract is for?

Response

  1. At West Cumberland Hospital, the service is provided in-house. At the Cumberland Infirmary this is provided through Interserve (PFI contractor on site) who contracts the main hot meals to: Tillery Valley, Cwmtillery Industrial Estate, Abertillery, South Wales NP13 1LZ. The rest of the meals are provided by Interserve FM.
  2. During the period 01/12/2008 to 31/11/2009, the Trust has received no complaints regarding the catering provision.
  3. I have enclosed the Catering Service Level Agreement document (enclosure 01)
