LINks

Local Involvement Networks or LINks were set up by the Government in April 2008 to give local people a stronger voice in how their health and social care services are delivered. They allow a local community to express what they want from local services and feed these views back to those responsible for delivering the services.

Each local authority that provides health and social services in England will have its own LINk. The local one for our area is Cumbria LINk.

Health and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee (Cumbria County Council)

Cumbria Health and Wellbeing Committee is responsible for:

• Reviewing provision and operation of healthcare services in Cumbria
• Reviewing any relevant issues concerning health care
• The membership of the Committee includes County Council and District/Borough Council members

Patient Panels

We currently have four Patient Panels, divided by their geographical location and the members are former patients of the hospitals. There is a wide range of topics discussed at the meetings and this enables the members to become active in developments in local healthcare. The members are all very enthusiastic and passionate regarding supporting the Trust to improve patient safety and patient experience by supporting staff to improve services. The meetings are well supported.

Members of Parliament

We have regular contact with our local Members of Parliament for Carlisle, Penrith and the Border, Workington and Copeland and keep them well informed about developments in our hospitals.
