John Stevenson MP visits the Cumberland Infirmary

John Stevenson MP, back, meets Trust Chairman Mike Little, right, and Cumberland Infirmary staff

John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle, paid a pre-Christmas visit to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle yesterday.

Mr Stevenson was shown around the hospital by the Chairman of North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, Mike Little, Chief Executive Carole Heatly and Acting Deputy Director of Nursing Lynn Anderson.

The MP met staff and patients in A&E, the assessment unit and Maple ward.

Mr Stevenson said: “It was good to meet with the nurses and other frontline staff on the wards and in the A&E department. The staff on the wards have a great sense of teamwork and I met with staff who are very dedicated to patient care.”

Ms Heatly said: “We were very pleased to welcome Mr Stevenson to the Cumberland Infirmary so he could see for himself the care we provide. He has taken a keen interest in our work, both before and since his election to Parliament, so we were happy to have the opportunity to show him around in person."
