Charity Abseil
Occcupational Therapist Hazel Westgate, Nursing Assistant Margaret Robinson and Physiotherapist Gail Hawthorn
Twenty-two members of staff from Elm C (Elderly Care) at Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary are planning to abseil 135 feet down the Civic Centre to raise money for charity.
Margaret Robinson, Nursing Assistant, has organised the abseil to raise money for The National Autistic Society and the Animal Refuge at Wetheral. Margaret is no novice when it comes to arranging fundraising events but admitted it took all her powers of persuasion to get people to sign up for this one.
She said “Staff on Elm C are always generous when it comes to giving their time and money for good causes but this one took a lot of friendly persuasion but we have managed to get 22 to signed up now and hope that a few more will join us from other wards and departments.
“The abseil is being supervised by Reach Beyond Adventure who have had many years in organising and running events of this type. They will provide all the equipment and expertise to ensure the whole event is a safe as possible”.
The abseil will take place on Saturday 21 May 2011 from 10.00 am. If you would like to take part in this abseil you can enrol by calling Reach Beyond Adventure on 01768 483867, mobile 07745383706 or e-mail enquiries@reachbeyondadventure.co.uk .
