New Non-Executive for North Cumbria

Posted on Friday 13th December 2013
The NHS Trust Development Authority (NHS TDA) has today confirmed the appointment of Malcolm Cook as a Non-Executive Director of North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr Cook was the Vice Chair and a Non-Executive Director of NHS County Durham from 2007 to 2013 and is a former senior manager in BT where he was Head of Service Excellence and Consumer Research.

While at BT, Mr Cook negotiated the largest ever Human Resources outsourced contract and was instrumental in reforming Customer Service Centres; at one stage taking a centre from 32nd place to 2nd place in the BT Business Excellence Award for which he received a BT internal award as a “World Class Leader.”

Mr Cook left BT in 2007 and joined the NHS as a Non-Executive Director in County Durham where he has been a member of the Audit Committee and also Vice-Chairman.

Mr Cook replaces Michael Bonner who has retired.

Non-Executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by the NHS TDA are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

Mr Cook has been appointed from 16 December 2013 until 15 December 2015 and is entitled to receive a remuneration of £6,157 per annum.
