An event is being held at West Cumberland Hospital next month to recruit volunteers ready for the opening of the £90 million new hospital this autumn.

Volunteer roles are varied but the Trust is especially looking for friendly, approachable people to meet patients and visitors when they enter the hospital, to help direct people, to answer queries and be a welcoming face.

The volunteers’ recruitment event will take place from Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 June 2015, to coincide with Volunteers’ Week 2015, which runs from 1 to 7 June. To celebrate, volunteers from across North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust have been invited to events held in both Whitehaven and Carlisle.

Claire Unwin, the Trust’s volunteer and charity development officer, said: “The opening of the new West Cumberland Hospital is an incredibly exciting time for the community and volunteering to be a part of it is a great chance for local people to get involved.

“We already have a fantastic team of volunteers working throughout the Trust and the events next month are a way of the Trust thanking them for their time and commitment, and for volunteers to meet volunteers from other departments.”
