Dr Ajith Wijesiriwardana & Dr Dinesh Moga

North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust (NCUH) is pleased to announce two new appointments for obstetrics and gynaecology, benefitting both the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.

Dr Ajith Wijesiriwardana has been appointed as clinical director for obstetrics and gynaecology, and Dr Dinesh Moga has been appointed as deputy clinical director for obstetrics and gynaecology, and obstetrics and gynaecology lead for West Cumberland Hospital.

Mr Ajith Wijesiriwardana has been a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at NCUH since September 2005. He has a special interest in maternal medicine, specifically high risk pregnancy management. Mr Wijesiriwardana has previously held the position of Foundation Tutor within the Trust, an important role in which he led the teaching of medical students and Junior Doctors.

Mr Dinesh Moga has worked at NCUH since September 2013. Mr Moga has a special interest in labour ward and gynaecological surgeries.

Dr Rod Harpin, medical director, said: “These two new appointments are fantastic news for the Trust and will mean a great deal to the women who use our services. Both doctors are renowned in their fields and I strongly believe will bring a great deal of improvements to both our sites.”
