Help us celebrate International Nurses day!

Posted on Wednesday 8th May 2019

In the run up to insert full name for the day nurses day on 12th May 2019 Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and North Cumbria University NHS Trust are celebrating their incredible nurses.

Between the two Trusts more than two thousand different nurses are employed, from district nurses, children’s nurses and cardiology nurses, to tissue viability nurses, safeguarding nurses and a range of different mental health nurses.

The theme for this year’s awareness day is for our staff to celebrate nursing by having a party in their workplace and we have asked our teams to share images of their parties on social media so keep an eye out for these.

Every day this week on social media we will be sharing and celebrating the range of nursing roles that we have across the county and how our nurses live our values of Kindness, Ambition, Respect and Collaboration every day.

For those interested in joining the profession we will be looking at the different routes into nursing in the county and the system chief nurse Alison smith will be sharing her story of her nursing journey. She said:

“Every year the 12th May gives us a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of our nursing staff. There are so many different nursing roles each one making such a difference to the lives of our patients; in the community, in people’s homes, in the community hospitals and in the main hospitals, nurses are a huge part of our work force. Please help us celebrate our wonderful nurses and if you have a particular story about how a nurse has helped you or you would like to share your nursing story please get in touch. Personally I would like to thank all of our nursing staff for the phenomenal role you play in improving the lives of our patients.”
