Orthodontics

General introduction

Orthodontic assessment and advice is given at the request of referring dental or medical practitioners.

Orthodontic treatment is provided to those patients who will achieve the greatest improvement in oral or general health through orthodontic intervention with an emphasis upon those whose treatment is complex.

What we do

  • Provision of orthodontic treatment often as part of multidisciplinary care eg jaw deformity, hypodontia, cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies.
  • Provision of orthodontic treatment for medically compromised patients.
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching clinics.

Location

The main base for both consultants is at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. However, an advice and a limited treatment service is provided at West Cumberland Hospital.
