General introduction

The Urology service in North Cumbria provides emergency and elective urology across the region. Our consultants are based primarily in Carlisle with cross site commitments, and provision of outpatient and diagnostic services via one-stop clinics in outlying community hospitals.

We aim to provide an excellent level of service and care.

What we do

We provide a comprehensive service diagnostic and therapeutic service. This includes prostate cancer diagnostics with Trans rectal ultrasound biopsies, laparoscopic surgery for renal tumours and endoscopic and percutanous stone surgery (PCNL).

The unit is supported by a full complement of interventional radiologists and excellent oncology input with radiotherapy available at the Cumberland Infirmary.

  • Incontinence evaluation with Urodynamics and treatment with intra-vescial Botox
