Making and cancelling appointments

If you are a patient in England and you need to see a hospital specialist, in many cases you are now given more choice over where to receive your hospital treatment. This system is called Choose and Book.

Research shows that patients want to be more involved in making decisions about their healthcare. The aim of Choose and Book is to give you at least four options when you are deciding which hospital or clinic to use. You can also choose the date and time of your first appointment. Not all appointments are available on Choose and Book. Your GP will discuss the appropriate options with you.

You can  find out more information from the Choose and Book website.

Cancelling an appointment

Having chosen and booked your appointment or if you have had one made for you, you may find you have to cancel it. It is important that you give us as much notice as possible so that we can offer your appointment to someone else and rearrange yours. Find out how to cancel an appointment.
